1926 was the last full year of silent features in Hollywood. In 1927, The Jazz Singer would strike a blow that would lead to the slow death of silent movies as the mainstream entertainment of the masses. So, let’s live it up and celebrate this triumphant final year!
1926 hits just right for me with many favorites of mine released. Michael Strogoff, Son of the Sheik, The Adventures of Prince Achmed, Before the Face of the Sea, The Black Pirate, The Canadian, The Cruise of the Jasper B, Ella Cinders, The Flying Ace, Kiki… too many to list! And that leads to a bit of a problem because I have reviewed many of the greats already.
So, I considered how I wanted to make my selection for review this month and I finally decided that I would just focus on enjoying myself. I will be reviewing movies from my favorite stars, my favorite studios, and in my favorite genres.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the golden sunset of the silent era.
