Fun Size Review: Cleopatra (1912)

Not the famously lost Theda Bara vehicle but still quite interesting in its own right. Star Helen Gardner wielded enormous creative control and even designed her own costumes.

However, the screenplay lacks focus and decides to emphasize a decidedly dull made up character. With Cleopatra, Julius Caesar and Mark Antony all waiting in the wings. Still this picture has historical value and is well worth the look, especially since it shares some source material with the Bara film.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.
Cleo makes a silly asp of herself.

If it were a dessert it would be: Maraschino Cherry Rice Pudding. If it ain’t broke, why did they fix it? (Disclosure: I do not like maraschino cherries.)

Availability: Released on DVD.
