Fun Size Review: The Faithful Dog; or, True to the End (1907)

One of the biggest myths about early films is that they were milestones but not exactly up to par on the entertainment and emotional fronts. Well, then. I lay down the gauntlet: watch this movie without turning into a sobbing mess by the end.

The story revolves around a little black poodle that brings its master his medicine faithfully until… Well, that would be telling. Anyway, heartstrings, heartstrings everywhere.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.

The master dies and the poodle refuses to leave his grave.

If it were a dessert it would be: Molasses Candy. Old school but packs a wallop.

Availability: Released on DVD as part of Undercrank Productions’ Found at Mostly Lost Volume 2 collection with a piano score by Ben Model.
