Fun Size Review: Eve’s Leaves (1926)

Raised aboard ship, Leatrice Joy feels it is high time to stop being a sailor and get herself a fella. Armed with magazine relationship advice, she goes ashore and sets her cap at the first man she sees, William Boyd. Leatrice shanghais him but soon has bigger problems when pirates invade her ship.

Boyd and Joy are a delight in this breezy adventure-comedy. If you can get past the unfortunate stereotypes, you will discover a gender-flip rom-com that deserves a lot more attention.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.

Boyd gets captured by a Chinese warlord and Joy stages a successful rescue mission. The pair are wed by a convenient missionary.

If it were a dessert it would be: Apple Cup Pies. A zany twist on a beloved classic. Plus, you know, apples.
