Fun Size Review: The Lucky Devil (1925)

The good news: Richard Dix wins a flashy car in a raffle. The bad news: Richard Dix wins a flashy car in a raffle. The car in question, you see, seems to have a jinx and Dix needs to win a race with it. Oh dear.

Okay, so this is not going to win any awards for best picture but it’s fast and fun and there are plenty of laughs to be had. Dix is a charming leading man and viewers who know him from his darker, craggier talkie days will be pleasantly surprised. One of the better films in the car race sub-genre.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.

All of the car’s gears are stripped and it can only go in reverse, so Dix wins the race backwards!

If it were a dessert it would be: Caramel Corn. It’s nothing new but it’s fun and delicious and almost everyone enjoys it.

Availability: Released on DVD.
