Let’s say you’re in the mood to watch a silent movie (and you should always be in the mood to watch a silent movie) but you just aren’t sure which one to choose. What to do? Well, as of this writing, I have 220 silent film reviews on this website and I’m here to help!
As movie websites age, they start to get bigger and more unwieldy. I am trying to combat that problem by keeping up to date indexes of the movies I have reviewed. However, sometimes even helpful stuff gets buried so I am going to create a handy guide for readers on how to navigate my reviews. Here goes!
Chronologically
I have all my silent film reviews in one category. Just click on this link and you will be able to see them all, from newest review to oldest. My older reviews are shorter. Whether or not this is a good thing is a matter of opinion.
Alphabetically
Ah, the good old ABC! This is where my reviews are listed in alphabetical order, obviously with An, A and The not counting. I also include a brief one or two line summary of the film.
By Rank
Some days you just wake up and feel like watching a movie in the 2.5 to 3 star range. Well, this is the place for you! I have ranked my reviews from worst to best, that is, 1 to 5 stars. This section is still under construction but I have a lot listed already.
By Genre
Maybe you’re more in the mood for a western or a romantic comedy. I’ve got you covered! Follow this link and you will see my genre list. (I admit that I probably should have split “Drama” into a few sub-genres. I may do that in the future.) Easy like pie!
I hope this makes it easier for everyone to find the perfect silent movie. Enjoy!

Thank you for this update, and for the work you do making things findable on your site. Far too many classic movie sites lack any kind of index for their archives, making the older stuff disappear into the void. I know from experience how much work it takes: I personally wish WordPress would work on making indexing more fluid for bloggers, but they don’t seem to see its importance.
Yes, that’s one reason why my ranking page is still incomplete. My former ranking page was tied in to my old theme and didn’t transfer when I upgraded to a more streamlined look. Now I am just doing it all by hand, which takes longer but will also transfer no matter what theme I use in the future.
220? Boy, oh boy! I had no idea there were so many.
December holiday binge reading, most definitely!
Yay! 😀
