Before we were so rudely interrupted

Hello, friends. It has been a while. Normally, I try to post a little something if I am under the weather but this time, we were way, way beyond any normal “under the weather.”

I had been off since mid-August and started feeling quite odd in early September. Long story short, a semi-minor health problem suddenly became not-so-minor and I almost bled to death in mid-September. I got to an ER that could handle my somewhat complex case, it was touch and go for a bit, then I had an emergency procedure that saved my life. After that, I spent eleven days at the hospital recovering, then had a ten day stint of extremely powerful IV antibiotics that were, believe me, no fun at all. I will still need another, non-emergency surgery to correct the issue permanently and I am not out of the woods yet.

My plan, now that I am feeling pretty good again, is to continue September’s theme of Death (how ironic) starting next week. I really do think regular silent film reviews are fun and good for my mental well-being, so I want to get back into that routine now that my brain is not being pickled by strong medicines.

So, that is the plan moving forward. I will let you know if I will be shutting down again for recovery (the surgery has a six week recovery time, so I may go silent in late December-early January) but I honestly think I will be bored stiff if I can’t write, so let’s see if I can review through the process.

Anyway, that’s the story. I’m alive and a lot better (thank you, USC) and ready to jump back into discussing dreary and deadly silent films. I have some pre-WWI doozies from Northern and Central Europe that will knock your socks off! So, let’s enjoy the autumn weather, get a nice cup of tea and get ourselves thoroughly depressed.

I’m so glad to hear you’re getting a lot better after what you have just been through. It must have been awful being at the hospital and not knowing if you were going to be ok.
Best wishes and take extra care!x

I’m really sorry to hear that you have been so ill, but equally glad that you are feeling better. I sincerely hope that you will make a full recovery before very long.

Great news that you are recovering and that there’s some more permanent cure!

Indeed disappearing during the theme month of death and knowing what you have written here about your health did cause some worry, but that’s nothing compared to what you must have gone through.

Please be selfish with your review schedules. We can wait.
