Mary Pickford and Cecil B. DeMille combined forces for the first time in this romantic melodrama and the results are mixed. Elliott Dexter is a bandit. Mary Pickford is a little lady. Can they find love?
Well, this is an off-brand version of The Girl of the Golden West so you know they can. Dexter plays the Good Bad Bad Man a little too well and I don’t buy this passive Pickford damsel for a minute but the film is not without its pluses and the cinematography is lovely.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.
Pickford fakes a pregnancy to save Dexter from the hangman’s noose and they walk off into the sunset together.Read my full-length review here.
If it were a dessert it would be: A Dirty Girl Scout. What else could it be?
