Fun Size Review: Shivering Spooks (1926)

One of the better silent Our Gang comedies, this cute little short features the kids stumbling into a crook’s hideout. The villains try to scare the tykes away by faking a haunted house and hilarity ensues.

There is some unfortunate racial humor but for the most part, this is a fun short with clever title cards and charismatic performances from some of the young leads. Most enjoyable.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.

The kids defeat the villains with well-aimed pottery and the baddies are hauled off to jail.

If it were a dessert it would be: Bloody Good Cheesecake. Sure, it’s all in the looks but it’s fun.

Availability: Shivering Spooks was released on DVD by ReelclassicDVD as part of their Our Gang Collection Volume Two.

Got you DVD Kidnapped today. Took a lot of work to be able to buy this but ultimately I got via Amazon Australia who had it shipped a week ago from Amazon US. Pure luck but I paid more than if direct but glad to now have it. Hope to play it tonight.
