In which I flee the country…; or, Destination: Scotland

As previously mentioned in my theme month announcement, my Scottish theme was chosen because I will be in Scotland for Hippfest. It is an all-silent program with live music and they will be screening my release of Kidnapped. I am very much looking forward to the festival, the films, and the music. Live accompaniment is not something I get to enjoy often, so this is a big treat for me.

Since I am packing and will be occupied with festival fun, I won’t be posting my usual weekly reviews until April but I hope to post festival updates on mobile. I have previously attended silent film festivals but this will be my first time attempting any kind of real-time coverage, so apologies in advance for any bumps in the road.

Hippfest is held at the historic Hippodrome in Bo’ness, Scotland’s oldest theater, and watching silent films in period surroundings is a great pleasure. If you can’t make it in person, there is also a Hippfest at Home option to stream these films anywhere in the world.

Off to my adventures!

Oh you’re in for a heap o’ fun! Bon voyage! Thank you for the link.

I had the pleasure of attending numerous silent film festivals in the 90s-early 2000s and especially recall those accompanied with live music by Jon Mirsalis. I hope your trip is all you wish.

    Sincerely,

Enjoy Hippfest! -And your vacation; if anybody deserves one, it’s you, for all the delightful reviews you’ve put up on your site. Any relationships in either side of your family with the Scots? (Mine are almost entirely Ukrainian. (We’ve got Dovzhenko, but nobody seems to be anything to clean up even his first, great trilogy of silent films.)
