This month, we are going to dig into the shortest of short films, complete productions lasting for a reel and some even shorter. Reels quickly became the standard form of film length measurement at a time when projection speed depended very much on who or what was doing the cranking.
I chose this theme for several reasons: First, it allows me to dive into more early film as this was the time when one-reelers were at their peak. Second, I quite enjoy the elegance of fitting an entire story into less than fourteen minutes (give or take). Third, my viewing time is going to be cut drastically this month due to some surgery, so I wanted to make sure I was being realistic in my time commitments.
I already kicked the month off with a review, so sit back, relax and enjoy some motion pictures in miniature!
