Can Charles Ray make the baseball team? If you’ve seen any sports movie, you know the answer.
That being said, Ray was one of the biggest stars in America a century ago and it is fascinating to see what appealed to audiences of the time. Ray didn’t always play hicks and ball players but this film does represent a pretty typical example of what he had to offer.

If it were a dessert it would be: Peach Bavarian. Dated but that’s kind of the point.

Movies Silently 
I happen to really like this film- have always loved The Busher. This time of year it’s great to watch what the “Boys Of October” were up to on the baseball field back in the day.
That intertitle above (…”sick oyster on stilts”…) is worthy of being included in the MS post (August this year, I believe) about favorite silent movie intertitles. Who couldn’t adore this one 😀
