Silent movie stars were often up to no good and their antics included everything from minor mischief to outright villainy. But what to do if they were caught in the act? The old innocent routine!

One of my very favorites is this scene with Ford Sterling from A Muddy Romance. What is he pretending to do to the bushes? “I’m just here polishing the leaves and would never DREAM of draining the lake!”

  1. These are always so funny and I really like all the gifs you post. It gives little tid-bits on the funny parts that one normally would not look for when watching silent films.
