Poll: How many silent films do you own and how often do you watch them?

It’s poll time again! This time, we’re going to find out how many silent films we watch and own as a group. I know that the survey responses may not exactly describe you but just choose the one that is the closest fit. Have fun!

  1. I wish I could have a large collection of silent films, but I also wish I had more money, a bigger house in which to store them, and more time to watch them. I am able to watch frequently on TCM so that makes up for it I guess.

  2. I could make a list of all the silent films I would love to own. But, as you mentioned, many of them aren’t available and I find this SO frustrating! But, I’m content with the films that are currently online and DVD.
Now, if I could get my hands on some presumably lost films and carefully restore them myself… *dreamy eyes, greedy smile*

  3. Is that pic of the leaking film cans sickening, or what.

Silents on the downstairs library shelves (literally since just counted them up): 215. We watch them all in a rotation, depending on time of year. Your recommendations always a recent boon in adding to that πŸ˜‰

      1. Addiction!?!?! We prefer the term Aficionados to Addicts, the silent film addicts gently protested πŸ˜‰ And now, off to get my morning fix ogling the treats on offer at Flicker Alley…

  4. I wish I could watch more but my hubby dislikes silent film( we won’t go there) and he is always home so u less I watch something in the morning or midday, I am stuck. Yup only 1 tv and DVD player. When I get a chance to see a silent film presented by the university, I take full advantage!

  5. I’m not really sure how many silent films I own – I sure hope it isn’t over 250, but it very well may be. As for cost: since I don’t have cable, I use the dollars I could spend on that on silent discs….

  6. I used to own many more, but a move to a smaller house forced a decision to rationalise, so all poor quality visuals went, along with those I would never watch again. Now I am more settled I am getting new copies as I realise how much I miss some of them. Good job I’m not poor.
