Fun Size Review: Saturday Night (1922)

What happens after Happily Ever After? Cecil B. DeMille, master of the modern fairy tale, attempts to answer the question in a story of two couple cross class and economic lines in the name of true love.

Leatrice Joy owns the film as Iris, a wealthy heiress who marries her chauffeur and discovers that living on love sounds better in theory than in practice. Joy’s sensitive performance is the highlight of the picture, as is the insane costumed pool party.

How does it end? Hover or tap below for a spoiler.

It’s the 1920s so it’s divorces for all and then remarriages! This is, obviously pre-code.

If it were a desert it would be: Blackberry Gin Fizz. Boozy, sparkling, did I mention boozy?
