And my 250th review will be…

At the beginning of the month, I asked my readers to vote in a poll to determine which silent movie I would cover for my 250th review. The response was excellent and I am happy to announce the winner of the contest.

The most popular choice (by a landslide) was the French serial Les Vampires. The Black Pirate and Cabiria tied for second with Patria and October in the final positions.

I have not seen Les Vampires in at least ten years so it will be interesting to find out if my impression of it has changed. We’re all going to find out when I publish my review. Look for it in Spring of 2016.

  1. Fritzi, please be sure to check the Image version as well as Kino’s. I did our (Image) version from scratch; years later Gaumont found better material and prepared their own version that Kino brought over, but I’m still proud of what we did and of Robert Israel’s score.

    1. I own both versions and will definitely be mentioning both releases. Israel’s score is really first-rate. Thanks so much for pioneering the release of this important serial. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi, Very happy this won. I should imagine there will be lots of interesting things to write about regarding both the serial and Musidora!

    Can’t wait!

  3. Can’t wait for it. I have never seen a horror silent movie yet… well, yes, I’ve seen one, but it wasn’t very ‘horror’. Les Vampires sounds so promising ๐Ÿ™‚
