Silent Movie Rule #23: Firing Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. is not as easy as it looks

Okay, so this annoyingly peppy cub reporter muffs a big story. So clearly you need to throw the kid out on his bottom. Just remember who this kid’s father is, buster.

This is from The Power of the Press, a ripping little newspaper drama with Fairbanks, Jobyna Ralston, the criminally underrated Mildred Harris and directed by Frank Capra. It’s fun, it’s smart and Capra was starting to become Capra. Plus, you get vintage shots of newspaper printing in action, if that’s your thing. It is mine.

Availability: Released on DVD.
