I like to post a GIF to thank the participants whenever I host a blogathon. Since the theme is Accidentally Hilarious, I decided to use one from a movie that tries hard to be funny– and fails spectacularly! This is from the infamous 1925 version of The Wizard of Oz, which is also sitting on the top (bottom?) of my list of lowest-ranked silent films as I type.
However, Dorothy Dwan perfectly embodies my excitement at seeing everyone’s wonderful posts. This is also how I react when Richard Arlen appears on the movie screen but that, my lambs, is another story.
(You can read my review of The Wizard of Oz here but I do not recommend it. Some poor souls read my review and then actually went out and saw the movie. I can’t have that on my conscience.)

Great…you took one look at our reviews and hid behind a tree! Thanks again for hosting a very fun blogathon!
And thanks so much for joining up 🙂
Fritzi, that nutzoid silent version of THE WIZARD OF OZ was worth a look, but once was enough! Walter Murch’s version wasn’t my favorite, but it was certainly better than the silent one. Worth a look to prove it exists, at the very least! 🙂
It should be marketed as a horror movie 😉
I know I shouldn’t, but I’m intrigued by the silent Wizard of Oz. I can’t say I haven’t been warned. What’s been seen cannot be unseen, right?
Thanks again for hosting this blogathon. Bravo!
It was a pleasure having you!
As for the silent Wizard of Oz, three words: Projectile vomiting duck. You have been warned. 😉
“Some poor souls read my review and then actually went out and saw the movie. I can’t have that on my conscience.”
That would be me! 😉 And I curse you with many sleepless nights as a result! 😛
Ha! As an experienced viewer of the silents, you knew what you were in for. On your head let it be! 😉
I think the only movie which caused me more pain than Semon’s Oz was Cool World with Brad Pitt.
For me, the 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau. :-s
Disney’s Inspector Gadget is quite painful too. I’d say that it’s even worse than what’s been done with The Transformers.
Ew! I saw that in theaters. (I was with a group of friends. Don’t ask.)
